Participation in the various categories of the festival opens as soon as this is announced during the press conference and continues until midnight on May 15, 2024.
When participation is closed, all works are subject to the matching process with the terms and conditions and technical level, and the accepted works move to the qualifiers.
Owners of accepted projects will be notified immediately after the completion of the matching process via an official electronic notification directed by the festival administration.
The works in the qualifiers are subject to evaluation by the jury, after which the nominated works in each of the categories are determined.
The owners of the nominated projects will be notified immediately after the end of the judging process, via an official electronic notification sent by the festival administration.
The winning works are not announced except during the closing ceremony of the festival.
The festival administration is committed to covering the accommodation expenses within the host country (Lebanon) for one individual exclusively for each nominated work, and the costs of travel tickets and entry visa fees remain the responsibility of the individual. (Except for the short film category)
Owners of nominated works must notify the festival administration of the name and title of the individuals entrusted to receive the prizes (in the event of winning) at least two weeks before the date of the closing events, through the festival’s email.
The closing events of the festival will be held between the twenty-eighth and the thirty-eighth of June 2024 in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
General Conditions
The participation form must be filled out and sent before midnight on May 15, 2024 via the Film Freeway website through the link published on the festival’s website horiff.org, provided that the participant adheres to the stipulated conditions.
All types of movies are provided in DCP format.
Participating works must be in the original language of the film and translated into English at a minimum. Translation into Arabic is also considered an added factor that helps present the film to larger audiences during the festival’s closing events.
The festival administration reserves the right to withhold any award or rank if the participating works do not meet the required level within any of the categories.
Works produced from 2019 until now are accepted.
The owner of the film does not have the right to withdraw his nomination after the closing of participation.
When registering his participation, the participant grants the festival administration the right to show his film at any time and place within the festival’s direct and indirect activities and to use clips from it for the purpose of promotion and advertising, while preserving the moral right of the employer.
In the event of any dispute between the participant and the festival administration, the laws of the host country (the Lebanese Republic in the first session) will be governed.
